Classification of hazardous goods
Material which poses a risk during transportation but do not meet the definition of any other hazard class. This class includes:
- Any material that has an anesthetic, harmful, or other similar property, which can cause extreme annoyance or discomfort crew members in order to prevent the proper operation of assigned duties, or
- Any material from hazardous waste or marine pollutant.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (Hazardous and dangerous cargo) in America is regulated by the Department of PHMSA.
Rules established by them, are obliged to be adheres by shipping lines carrying dangerous goods from the United States. In the carriage of dangerous goods the customer must provide IMO Declaration, which describes the full name of the cargo, its hazard class and UN number. After providing the data line must approve the maritime transportation of cargo on the ship. Transport of dangerous goods is a particular kind of transport, given the potential danger of goods being transported.
